Real Madrid Logo History

The first ever Real Madrid crest in 1902 had MCF initials interlacing in white color with dark blue background used on a white shirt.
Six years after the first Real Madrid logo was created, club decided to make some changes to the crest.

The interlacing of the MCF letters was changed to a more streamlined form of lettering which also appeared in a circle.

Real Madrid crest colors remained the same.real Madrid badge remained the same until 1920 when Pedro Parages became president.

During the 1920s, King Alfonso XIII granted the club his royal patronage and therefor Madrid Club de Futbol became Real Madrid which was meant to be taken as Royal Madrid.

In becoming a royal club, Real Madrid changed its logo again in 1920 by adding a royal crown to the Real Madrid Crest and started to be known as Real Madrid Club de Futbol.

After the monarchy was done in 1931, the royal crown was taken off the Real Madrid logo and the royal title "Real" was stripped as well.

Region of Castilo dark mulberry band was added across the middle of the Madrid Club de Futbol crest to replace the royal crown. Two years after the end of Civil War, in 1941, Real Madrid restored the Royal Crown to their logo while keeping the mulberry stripe of Castile as well.

Real Madrid Crest was also done in full color with gold being the most prominent as well as changing their name back to Real Madrid Club de Futbol.

This remained the clubs logo entering the new century and making one minor change in 2001 by changing the mulberry stripe to a more bluish shade. The only change that has been done since the 1941 Real Madrid crest changes is the bringing out of colors as well as changing the mulberry stripe into a more bluish shade to better standardize the crest for the 21st century.

The Real Madrid Crest remains the same as of September, 2012... Or in better words, the writing of this article.
